FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)
How long do BatteryKits batteries last?
Under normal conditions, which is standby mode at room temperature, battery manufactures suggest you will get a 3-5 year lifespan.
The ups and the enviroment it is located in are actually the biggest determinant of your batteries lifespan. For instance, if you
had extended power outages every day you may count the life of your battery in months not years. Also for every 15 degree increase over
room teperature, you effectivly halve your batteries lifespan. The type of UPS you have will affect this also. Some UPS systems trickle
charge the batteries, this is turn keeps the batteries about 15 degrees warmer, which then decreses the lifespan to 1.5 to 2.5 years.
With such a wide varience in battery life, when should I change mine?
We recomend changing your battery every 2-3 years. If your system backs up critical equipment we recomend every two years
regardless if your UPS is showing the replace battery indicator. This protects you from finding out your battery is bad when
your equipment goes out with the power.
